Born at East Los Angeles Doctor’s Hospital, Ciara Gutierrez grew up in Los Angeles County.
Her career with the Pipeline Health hospitals started in 2002 when she was hired at Community Hospital of Huntington Park to work in Human Resources. At the time the hospital was owned by Tenet Healthcare Corporation.
Twenty years later — after moving among Coast Plaza Hospital, East Los Angeles Doctor’s Hospital and Community Hospital of Huntington Park – Gutierrez was promoted recently to serve as Human Resources Market Director for all four Los Angeles hospitals.
In this role she oversees all HR functions and processes, with responsibility for regulatory compliance, training and employee relations.
Her eyes are keenly focused on a number of workforce concerns.
“Recruitment, retention and staff engagement are my top priorities for our hospitals,” Gutierrez said. “We are actively working with leaders to hire qualified staff to join our teams and meet our communities’ needs. At the same time, we are diligently working to retain our current staff.”
Pipeline offers employee referral bonuses to employees who refer candidates. “We want our employees to tell their friends and acquaintances to come and work with us. And, we may offer a special sign-on bonus for positions that are critical and in high demand.”
If the candidate is hired, and if the candidate names the referring employee on their employment application, the referring employee is eligible for a referral bonus.
Communication with employees is another area of focus. “Our employees like communication – they want to know what’s going on in our hospitals.”
Gutierrez partners with other staff who work in various functional areas of Human Resources, and there is a lot that she enjoys about her job.
“I have a passion for what I do — helping, supporting and balancing the needs of our leaders and staff, understanding and resolving employee issues and concerns with empathy, and providing confidential guidance,” she said. “I love helping Pipeline Health employees as it is a rewarding and satisfying experience.”
When she is not at work, Gutierrez is passionate about spending time with her family. “I love going to Disneyland,” she said. “Spending time with my children and two grandchildren at Disneyland is the best.”
