The rivalry between East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital and Community Hospital of Huntington Park continued with the third in a series of friendly weekend softball games.

The East Los Angeles Rebels won the latest game 11-8 on Aug. 26 and reclaimed the competition’s trophy from the Huntington Park Bombers. The game was held at Santa Fe Springs Park.

Organizers David Rodriguez, an emergency room nurse at East Los Angeles, and Carlos Nunez, cardiopulmonary manager at Huntington Park, set the goal of getting the two hospital staffs together for a day of fun. Nunez added that the other goal is to win the game.

With three games behind them, Huntington Park has won two and East Los Angeles has won one.

“We are already planning a rematch in November, maybe a picnic event and hopefully we’ll have a good turnout. It’s a great way to stay in touch with our extended (work) families,” Nunez said.
