Delivering Healthy Beginnings

Having a baby is a very special time, but it can be a little overwhelming. It’s comforting to know that East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital is there for you during every stage of your delivery.

The Golden Hour
The first hour after birth or “The Golden Hour,” is a special occasion for family and baby to bond. Immediately after delivery, your baby will be placed skin-to-skin until the baby finishes the first breastfeeding. Skin-to-skin has been shown to improve breastfeeding and allows your baby time to recover from the birthing process. This is a special time to bond with your baby.

Involving Your Coach
We realize your coach is an important part of your labor and delivery team. Our medical staff makes the extra effort to involve coaches in the birthing experience and keep them engaged and informed.

Breastfeeding Support
At ELADH, we are proud to continue our support for exclusive breastfeeding. Our team of healthcare professionals are here to answer any questions you have about feeding your baby. Our nurses are educated and trained in basic breastfeeding techniques to help you and your baby get off to a good start. We realize this is one of the most important decisions and we would like to provide you with the information and support to help you reach your goals.

Rooming-In
We provide 24-hour rooming-in, allowing you and your baby to remain together throughout their hospital stay. This allows families to bond and learn the baby’s cues while our nurses support positive interactions between you and your baby.

Non-Pharmacological Labor Pain Relief Methods
Medications used to relieve pain during labor may affect your baby’s ability to breastfeed soon after. At ELADH, we want to give you options to make this special time as comfortable as possible. Talk with your doctor about pain management options that may work for you.
