Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Rick Rufino brings 20 years’ experience as a strategic leader and operations manager to his role as chief executive officer. A results-driven executive with expertise in team management and talent development, Rufino brings a caregiver’s perspective the position from his time as a respiratory therapist.
Rick comes to East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital from Kindred Healthcare, where he most recently served chief executive officer. Previously, he held director level position within Kindred Healthcare in business development at a national and regional level. He also worked with Kaiser Healthcare Southern California and Tenet Healthcare in Fountain Valley.
His academic degrees include: a bachelor of science in healthcare administration and a master of science in strategic marketing, both from Bellevue University, and an associate of science degree in respiratory therapy from California College of Health Science.
Wafa El Musselmani, RN, MBA
Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
Wafa El Musselmani has over 20 years of experience working as a Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Clinical Director, Interim Chief Executive Officer and Compliance Officer. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arizona and a Master of Business Administration in Global Management, El Musselmani was well prepped to move hospitals through the many changes that have occurred in healthcare in the past two decades.
El Musselmani has experience working from the ground up, improving patient safety and patient experience scores, and moving up into positions of responsibility and leadership, eventually becoming responsible for all day to day hospital operations. In her most recent position as the Interim Chief Operating and Compliance Officer, she managed the gamut, from ancillary services to quality/ facilities, human resources to food and nutrition, information technology to medical staff. El Musselmani has a deep understanding of healthcare and hospital management, and a visible passion for providing the very best care.
