Baby Friendly Designation
After much labor, East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital, one of Pipeline Health’s Los Angeles hospitals, has been recertified by Baby-Friendly USA (BFUSA) as a Baby-Friendly hospital for upholding the highest standards of infant feeding care.

As the accrediting body and national authority for the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), BFUSA is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the certification process for the prestigious Baby-Friendly designation. The BFHI assists hospitals in equipping mothers with the skills necessary to begin and continue breastfeeding their babies.

“East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital has an enduring reputation for providing high-quality maternity care to generations of families,” said Victor Carrasco, chief executive officer of East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital. “We are committed to ensuring that each of our mothers understands the benefits of breastfeeding to both the mother and her newborn.”

As one of just 590 Baby-Friendly hospitals in the United States, East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital is a leader in maternity care. From maternity tours and prenatal care to Lamaze classes and breastfeeding education, the hospital supports healthy beginnings for every patient.

“Our staff takes great pride in being a Baby-Friendly hospital,” said Wafa El Musselmani, chief nursing officer of East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital. “That pride is a confidence builder for expecting and new mothers.”

East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital features an innovative Family Birthing Center right in the hospital. The Family Birthing Center staff and facility were designed to be a resource for mothers across each stage of the delivery process.
